Drywall Finishing in Hartford County, CT
Taping, mudding and sanding taken to the finish level your walls actually need — because the lighting in your home will find every shortcut.
Professional Drywall Finishing You Can Trust
Finishing is where drywall is won or lost. The board can be hung perfectly and you'll still see every joint if the taping is rushed, the compound is applied too thick, or the sanding stops one pass early. It shows up worst in the evening, when low light rakes across a wall and turns an invisible seam into a shadow.
Tico's finishes to the level the room calls for. A Level 4 finish is right for most walls under flat or eggshell paint. A Level 5 — a skim coat over the entire surface — is what you want under gloss, under strong side-lighting, or on any wall a big window shines across. We'll tell you which one your room needs instead of quoting the cheapest option and hoping.
Common problems we solve
- New board that's hung but still needs taping, coating and sanding
- Seams and screw lines showing through a finished paint job
- Ridged or over-built joints from compound applied too heavily
- Walls under glossy paint or big windows that need a full skim coat
The Tico's Approach to Drywall Finishing
Finished to the Right Level
Level 4 for most rooms, Level 5 where lighting or sheen would expose anything less.
Feathered, Invisible Seams
Joints widened out in successive coats so no ridge telegraphs through the paint.
Dust Kept Under Control
Sanding is the messiest stage of any job — we contain it rather than spread it through the house.
Genuinely Paint-Ready
Primed-and-ready means your painter starts painting, not fixing.

Drywall Finishing Questions, Answered
What's the difference between Level 4 and Level 5?−
Level 4 finishes the joints, corners and fasteners — right for most walls under flat or eggshell paint. Level 5 adds a thin skim coat across the whole surface, which is what you want under gloss paint or on walls that catch strong side light.
Can you finish drywall someone else hung?−
Yes, that's a common call. We'll look at the hanging first, since loose board or bad fastening has to be corrected before any compound goes on, or the finish won't hold.
How much dust does sanding create?−
Sanding is the dustiest part of the job. We seal off the work area and clean as we go, so the dust stays in the room being worked on rather than travelling through the house.
