Laminate Flooring Installation in Hartford County, CT
Click-lock laminate installed with the boring details done right — flat subfloor, correct underlayment, and expansion gaps that keep the floor from buckling.
Professional Laminate Flooring You Can Trust
Laminate is a floating floor: the planks lock to each other, not to the subfloor, and the whole field expands and contracts as a single sheet with the seasons. That's why the two things that ruin laminate installations are a subfloor that isn't flat and expansion gaps that weren't left at the walls.
Tico's installs laminate flooring in living areas, bedrooms, hallways and offices across Hartford County — Hartford, Glastonbury, West Hartford, Windsor and the surrounding towns. We flatten the subfloor first, use the right underlayment for what's underneath, leave proper perimeter gaps hidden behind trim, and stagger the seams so the floor reads as a floor rather than a repeating pattern.
Common problems we solve
- Worn carpet you'd like replaced with something easier to keep clean
- An existing laminate floor buckling or lifting at the seams
- Bedrooms, hallways or offices that need a hard-wearing, budget-friendly floor
- A subfloor with dips and humps that no floating floor will sit right on
The Tico's Approach to Laminate Flooring
Subfloor Flattened First
High and low spots corrected, so planks don't flex, click apart or creak underfoot.
Expansion Gaps Left Correctly
Perimeter gaps at every wall and obstacle, hidden by trim — this is what stops buckling.
Seams Staggered Naturally
Board layout planned so end joints scatter instead of forming visible stair-step lines.
Transitions and Trim Finished
Thresholds, reducers and quarter round installed so the job looks complete at the edges.

Laminate Flooring Questions, Answered
Is laminate suitable for a bathroom or basement?−
Generally no for bathrooms, and basements depend on moisture. Laminate has a fibreboard core that swells if water sits on it. For those rooms, luxury vinyl plank is the better choice, and we'll steer you there.
Can laminate go over my existing floor?−
Over sound vinyl, tile or a flat slab, often yes. Over carpet, no. Over anything soft or uneven, the floor has to be flattened first or the joints will fail.
Why is my current laminate lifting at the seams?−
Almost always one of two things: no expansion gap left at the walls, so the floor has nowhere to go when it expands, or moisture reaching the core from below.
