Tile Flooring Installation in Hartford County, CT
Tile floors that stay put, because the work that decides that happens under the tile, before any of it is visible.
Professional Tile Flooring You Can Trust
A tile floor fails from underneath. If the subfloor flexes when you walk across it, the grout cracks and the tiles work loose — and no amount of care laying the tile itself will save it. That's why the first thing we look at isn't the tile you picked, it's what it's going on top of.
Tico's installs porcelain, ceramic and natural stone floors in kitchens, bathrooms, entryways, mudrooms and basements across Hartford County. We check the subfloor for deflection, add backer board or underlayment where it's needed, and lay out the room so the cuts land where they're least noticeable.
Common problems we solve
- A floor that flexes underfoot and keeps cracking grout
- Kitchens, baths, entries and mudrooms that need a hard-wearing floor
- Basement slabs that need the right prep before tile can go down
- Large-format tile that needs levelling to avoid uneven edges
The Tico's Approach to Tile Flooring
Subfloor Sorted First
Deflection checked and the substrate corrected before a single tile is set.
Laid Out Before It's Laid
The room is planned so full tiles land in sight lines and awkward cuts go where nobody looks.
Flat, Lippage-Free Surface
Levelling systems on large-format tile so no edge stands proud of its neighbour.
Properly Detailed Edges
Movement joints, thresholds and transitions handled instead of grouted over.

Tile Flooring Questions, Answered
Can tile go straight over my existing floor?−
Sometimes. Over a sound slab or a stiff subfloor, often yes. Over existing vinyl, cushioned flooring or a springy floor, no — it has to come up or be built up first, or the new floor will crack.
Do you handle heated floors?−
We can install tile over electric floor-heating mats. The mat and thermostat are usually supplied by the homeowner or an electrician, and we set the tile over the system.
How long before I can walk on it?−
Usually the next day for light foot traffic, with grouting after that. We'll give you a schedule for the specific room, since setting times vary with the materials and conditions.
