Porch Repair in Hartford County, CT
Front porches restored — tongue-and-groove flooring, columns, railings and ceilings, on houses where the porch is the first thing anyone sees.
Professional Porch Repair You Can Trust
A porch is different from a deck. It's usually older, usually at the front of the house, often has a roof over it, and it's built from materials a deck never uses — tongue-and-groove porch flooring laid to shed water, turned columns carrying a roof load, and a beadboard ceiling above. It's also the first thing anyone sees when they arrive.
Tico's repairs porches on Connecticut homes, many of them a century old. That means working with what's there: matching tongue-and-groove flooring, repairing or replacing column bases where they've wicked up water, rebuilding railings to match the original profile, and fixing porch ceilings without losing the character of the house.
Common problems we solve
- Soft or rotting boards in a tongue-and-groove porch floor
- Column bases that have gone soft where they meet the deck
- Railings loose, damaged or missing balusters
- Beadboard porch ceilings sagging or stained from a roof leak above

Porch Repair Questions, Answered
How is porch repair different from deck repair?−
Different materials and different construction. Porches use tongue-and-groove flooring pitched to shed water, often carry a roof on columns, and are frequently much older. The repairs, and the matching, are a different kind of work.
Can you match flooring on a hundred-year-old porch?−
Usually. Tongue-and-groove porch flooring is still made, and we match profile and width as closely as available. On unusual originals we'll show you the closest option before committing.
Does the whole column need replacing if the bottom is rotted?−
Often not. If the rot is confined to the base and the rest is sound, the base section can be cut out and rebuilt — much less expensive and it keeps the original column.
